It's Been a Minute

Good morning!

It is the last day of June 2019, and this is my first blog post of the year! Yikes!
That's a long time; however it is all for good reason.  So far, 2019 has been amazing, and I declare in the name of Jesus that the second half of 2019 will be even greater!

In January 2019, I released my first book! It is entitled, Gathering the Fragments: The Wheel and The Kiln.  It is a testament of a three-year process of healing and restoration where God gathered my fragments and set me on a course to where I am now, and where I'm headed to.
The first week of its release, it held at #1 in the Women's Spiritual Growth category on Amazon and currently has a five-star rating!  I was so excited and amazed by God.

Gathering the Fragments endeavors to encourage single women to seek purpose over companionship, and to turn their pain into their platform!  Although this was written with singles in mind from a fellow single woman's point of view, I truly believe anyone can glean something from this book.
It is available on Amazon Kindle (release of print copies TBA).

January, February and March were filled with promoting my book and getting ready for another special occasion.

On Friday, April 5, 2019, I married my "pleasant surprise," Ali.
Pleasant Surprise?  Yes.
Why a surprise?  Because Ali was my doTERRA client at first.

When we connected, it was strictly business. Strictly. What started out as business, along with helping someone manage their health naturally, organically evolved into a lifelong covenant partnership. My PURPOSE connected us.
My husband saw my coworker KiJuan using doTERRA essential oils and inquired about them.  KiJuan told him that he could get them from me.  That's when KiJuan introduced us. (Thanks KiJuan!)

Let me back up:  Ali had been coming to the radio station where I work for about three months at that time.  Prior to our former introduction, we never went past "Hello."  He came there for one reason:
to minister the Word of God over the airwaves.  He wasn't coming to my office, flirting or trying to initiate conversation.  He was there on divine assignment. (Special thanks for our pastor, Ovella Davis for entrusting her Tuesday segment of Best of Detroit Gospel to Ali!)
I would buzz him in the door, say hello and walk back to my office.  He would return the greeting, go into the control room, speak with KiJuan before the show and then do the broadcast. After he got off the air, he spoke with KiJuan and then left the station.

Later after we connected, he admitted that he was attracted to me when he saw me months prior.  However, I find it very attractive that he was, and is, a man of integrity.  He stayed committed to his assignment and did not allow flesh to distract him.  I must add this:  at that time, the last thing I wanted was a relationship of any kind.  I was married to my purpose (serving in ministry, editing and being a wellness advocate). doTERRA, through the grace and wisdom of God, opened the door for us to connect.

This business/client relationship turned into a friendship. A month later, he asked me out.  Later that same month, we committed to an exclusive courtship.   Nine months after, he proposed to me.  Had Ali approached me on his own doing (without doTERRA being our bridge), I would have turned him down immediately.  So God utilized the one thing that had my attention to connect us.

The key word is purpose.  We never know what and who is tied to our purpose!  We have no idea what good things await us when we walk and operate in our purpose.  That's why the Bible clearly states, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not until thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV).

Acknowledge God; seek God first above all things-above your own agenda and wants.  Let's parallel this with New Testament Scripture--the words of Jesus Christ: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33 KJV).  Jesus encourages us to first seek the kingdom of God.  Seek God for how you can bring His influence to the earth! I tell people often that doTERRA is more than a business; it is my ministry. God gave me the desire to help people manage their health naturally, which was birthed through my sister Donna's terminal illness and demise, along with my own health issues that developed the same year  her health took a turn for the worst. When Jesus ministered, He attended to the natural need of those who were lost--their physical healing! The sin was addressed later (John 5:6-15).

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (emphasis added).
This is how we, as disciples of Christ, should operate. When I truly began to seek the kingdom and walk in what God gave me the desire to do, that purpose connected me to my now husband.  We both love essential oils and use them daily. Ali has even been my "Hype Man," telling his friends, family and coworkers about the oils.

To my single sisters and brothers, you should desire a mate who believes in you and pushes you into your purpose.  Those days when I waver and mentally vacillate as to what my purpose is, when I confide that to my mate, he, as my husband, friend and priest of our home, lovingly reminds me of my purpose and encourages me to seek God more, as there is so much more in me to do for the kingdom.

So, there ya have it.  The first six months of 2019 was developing me for two new titles: published author and wife. It's been a wonderful journey and I'm looking forward to doing all God has ordained me to do for His glory.   Also, I have a new blog post baking in the oven, so stay tuned!
